Prior to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 mini auction, the GT Player List 2024 have decided to hold onto the majority of their initial selections while letting go of nine players, including their captain Hardik Pandya, who led the team to victory in 2023.
Despite being compelled to trade captain Pandya, GT squad for IPL 2024 has kept 17 players from the team that placed second in the 2023 Indian Premier League, including speedster Mohammed Shami, finisher David Miller, spinner Rashid Khan, and star batsman Shubman Gill.
In addition to the players already named, the 2022 winners have kept hold of Kane Williamson, who was acquired at last year’s auction and missed the whole previous campaign owing to injury.
Although Pandya’s departure creates a significant hole, GT has also added a number of fast bowling alternatives, including Alzarri Joseph, Yash Dayal, Shivam Mavi, and Pradeep Sangwan, who now have the responsibility of adding depth to the department.
The runners-up of the previous campaign also released an uncapped Indian player, an international team all-rounder with experience guiding teams, and a backup wicketkeeper-batter.
The GT squad for IPL 2024 will now attempt to reclaim some of their former players at a lower cost than what they spent during the last auction. While there are still eight spots available for the auction on December 19, 2023, they will also be looking to add some intriguing T20 players.
